The relationship between the Envirometer and ISO 14001
The Envirometer has been used for many years by a wide range of companies to complement the ISO14001 mandatory environmental recording and monitoring, analysis and evaluation of environmental performance.
Environmental registration
The ISO 14001 label requires you to maintain environmental records that monitor, analyse and evaluate the environmental performance of your organisation. The graphs generated in the Envirometer provide a tool to assess the importance of environmental aspects of your business operations.
The Envirometer calculates the environmental impact of your business operations on the basis of the data entered. This takes place on the basis of environmental price methodology, which assigns costs to environmental effects such as the greenhouse effect, acidification and eutrophication.
Determining indicators
The Envirometer calculates indicators, called key figures, that describe the environmental performance of your company. For example, the waste separation rate or the CO2 emissions per business kilometre.
Monitoring, analysing and evaluating environmental performance
This allows you to formulate targets for the chosen environmental indicators. The Envirometer uses traffic light colours to show whether you are achieving your targets.
Registering additional indicators
You can supplement the Envirometer with data relating to nuisance, sustainable purchasing and sustainability of your product or service. You can also link target graphs to this data. This allows you to gather a complete set of performance indicators for ISO 14001.
Complying with legislation
In the Envirometer, you can identify the Dutch legally recognised measures in your sector by the dark blue government symbol. These are the measures you must report on as part of the disclosure requirement. You can also use the Envirometer for the Energy Audit (EED), Dutch waste separation rules and transport management, read more.
Important: Do not confuse the Envirometer with an environmental aspects record. Even if you use the Envirometer, it is still necessary to prepare a record of all the environmental aspects of your activities, products and services in order to comply with the ISO 14001 standard.
